Wolverines News · Wolverines get a big win at Byers


Frontier Academy Wolverines beat the Byers Bulldogs in Byers Saturday night, 51-47.

The Wolverines jumped out big to a 31-15 lead at half-time.  “We played some of our best basketball of the year both defensively and knocking down shots in that first half.”  Coach Wood said.  The Wolverines made 6 three pointers from 5 different players in that first half.  “We start shooting like that and playing the defensive we have been playing, we are going to make a great play-off run.

The Byers Bulldogs did make a run in the second half, picking up their defense holding the Wolverines to 20 points in the second half and pulled twice with in four points.  “Free-throws down the stretch was the key.” Coach Wood added.  “We made 6 of 7 free-throws in the fourth.  As a team we need to keep shooting like that. ”

The Wolverines were led in scoring by :  Zach Hidalgo 16, Rylan Aikens 14, and Lukas Bowles 11.

The win moves the Wolverines to 9-9 on the season.
